1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Compendium you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree please do not use the site. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and subscribers.
2. Description of Service
The Compendium is a curated directory of digital tools and applications for Dungeons and Dragons and tabletop role-playing game players and Dungeon Masters. The site offers a free publicly accessible directory of verified TTRPG tools, filtering and search functionality, a Start Here quiz, a tool submission form, and an optional paid subscription called Compendium Pro with enhanced features.
3. User Accounts and Subscriptions
Free Access: The core directory, filtering, quiz, and tool submission features are available to all users without an account.
Compendium Pro Subscription: Compendium Pro is a paid subscription offering tool comparison, saved tools, new tool alerts, and monthly curated content. By subscribing you agree to pay the applicable subscription fee of $7.99 per month or $59 per year, provide accurate billing information, and authorize recurring charges until you cancel. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
Account Responsibility: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at legal@thecompendium.gg.
4. Tool Submissions
By submitting a tool you confirm that you have the right to submit the information provided, the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and the tool does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights. The Compendium reserves the right to accept, reject, edit, or remove any submitted tool at our sole discretion. Paid priority submissions are non-refundable once the review process has been initiated.
5. Affiliate Relationships
The Compendium participates in affiliate programs. Some links on the site are affiliate links meaning we may earn a commission when you click and make a purchase. This does not affect the editorial integrity of our directory listings.
6. Intellectual Property
All original content on The Compendium including tool descriptions, editorial content, the Start Here quiz, and site design is owned by The Compendium and protected by applicable copyright law. Tool names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our original content without explicit written permission.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the site for any unlawful purpose, submit false or fraudulent tool information, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site, use automated scraping tools without prior written permission, interfere with the site's operation or infrastructure, or impersonate another person or entity.
8. Disclaimers
The Compendium provides tool listings and pricing information on an as-is basis for informational purposes only. We make reasonable efforts to verify data accuracy but cannot guarantee that all information is current, complete, or error-free. Pricing, features, and availability of third-party tools may change without notice. Always verify current information directly with the tool provider before making purchasing decisions.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Compendium shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or any tools discovered through the directory. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Compendium, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses including legal fees arising from your use of the site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to The Compendium at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property matters.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
